Ashok L. Gowda, MD

Dr. Gowda grew up in Michigan and graduated with a double major from the combined accelerated medical program at Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at New York Medical College. He then completed a Shoulder & Elbow Fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital, continually ranked among the best in the nation for orthopaedics by U.S. News and World Report.

He subsequently was granted a scholarship for an AO Fellowship to complete additional training in hand surgery at the highly respected R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

While in fellowship Dr. Gowda assisted in caring for the Detroit Lions, Oakland University Athletics including a Division I basketball and soccer team, and local high school football teams.

He has authored over twenty scientific peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and local or national presentations. He has served as a lab instructor for orthopaedic surgeons in training, has contributed health-related articles to local newspapers, and has served as a medical journal reviewer. Additionally, he enjoys volunteering and has worked with various causes including health care screenings in New York City and hand surgery in Honduras.

In his free time Dr. Gowda enjoys traveling, running, skiing, sailing, golf, theology/history, photography and spending time with his family.
