Covid GraphicAt SurgCenter of the Potomac, there is nothing more important than the health and safety of our patients, care providers and community. We want to provide you with information about the thoughtful and deliberate steps we are taking to make our facility a safe place to receive healthcare during this time of uncertainty. Our center continues to maintain strict standards while following updated guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the State of Maryland Department of Health and other medical governing bodies. We understand that you may have concerns about receiving medical care during this on-going pandemic. Please be assured that we have implemented enhanced precautions to ensure a safe environment for all involved.

  • ALL patients will need to be COVID tested 5-7days prior to your surgery. Testing is arranged through your surgeon’s office.
  • Everyone entering the facility must wear a mask or face covering.
  • When you arrive for your surgery, do not enter. You will need to call 240-483-0282 to let them know you have arrived.
  • Before entering the facility, your temperature will be taken and you will be asked COVID prescreening questions regarding exposure, symptoms and recent travel.
  • Upon entry to the facility, you will be instructed to wash your hands before registration process.
  • To limit potential exposure, no visitors are allowed in the waiting room. All patient escorts will be asked to wait in their vehicle or can drop off and return to pickup at completion of procedure. Confirmation of patient’s support person will be made via phone call at time of registration.
    • Patients who are minors or with special needs are allowed one parent/caregiver to escort them. Patient escort must undergo health screening and must follow all applicable facility safety measures.
  • After surgery, your designated caregiver will receive a call from the surgeon. The PACU nurse will call when the patient is ready for discharge.

If you think you have been exposed to COVID‑19 and develop a fever and symptoms, such as cough or difficulty breathing, call your healthcare provider for medical advice.

We understand that these guidelines create an inconvenience, but as always, we are working to do everything we can to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients and everyone involved in their care.
