Following two years in general surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center, he spent a year performing research in the university’s Department of Orthopaedics. He went on to an orthopaedic residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson, where he provided orthopaedic care for Rutgers University and local high school sports teams. In 2012, he completed a hand and microvascular fellowship at the Hand and Shoulder Center of Western New York at SUNY-Buffalo.
Dr. Scott chose hand surgery because of the variety of cases and conditions involved, including treating traumatic injuries such as fractures, restoring ruptured tendons, and treating nerve and blood vessel injuries. He also takes great joy in treating very common problems such as carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger and thumb arthritis. He chose to specialize in hand surgery because it requires an intense understanding of biology and physics to appreciate hand function and its disease pathophysiology.
Dr. Scott and his wife Mina live in Fairfax with their children, Tre and Marie Alice. His many interests outside of work include basketball, bowling, biking, softball, tennis, golf and chess.
